Eco Fetlar: Polytunnel
As part of our 'Growing Together' project we have decided to grow our own crops. We have been allowed to use half of an industrial sized polytunnel which is owned by a member of the community. We have started to plant a variety of crops including carrots, radish, squash & beetroot. It has been hard work so far, but we are beginning to see some shoots.
We have had many donations from the community including feeding tubs, seeds, tatties & plants. We have spent very little on our project as we have used the feeding tubs as planting tubs. We intend to give some of our produce to anyone who has helped us.
Here's a few pictures:

We used some old polystyrene as drainage in the bottom of our tubs.
We dug and riddled our soil.

Then we filled the tubs with a mixture of soil and compost.
We also riddled the soil and raked it.

Then we planted tatties, after marking the drills.

We watered the tatties.
