It's Hot

How warm is cold water?

Recording the temperatureHow warm is it now?

We are studying forms of energy at the moment. This means that we are looking at light, heat, sound and electricity. We have started by measuring heat. This week we have learned how to read a thermometer accurately and how quickly water cools from boiling. We are making graphs of this for display.

The Huddle

We have been studying energy this term in our ES lessons. We have looked at heat energy, conduction and insulation. We discussed how animals keep warm by huddling. We devised an experiment to show this using cans.

Glamourous assistant pours.Reading the temperature

We had 7 cans in a huddle and one can on its own. We took the temperature of 3 of the cans every 2 minutes. We recorded the results in a chart before making a line graph or a bar chart of the results.

Taking & recording the resultsOur cans are cooling. But which will cool the most?

In our experiment the can in the middle kept the most heat.
