Curriculum For Excellence 2008-9:
As Fetlar School starts to work its way towards the new Curriculum For Excellence we have begun to introduce topics that encompass many different elements of the Curriculum.
During the second and third terms of the school year 2008-9 we completed a topic on Crofting.
We looked at the history of Crofting, the effect of the seasons on the croft, the social upheavals of the clearances (particularly here in Fetlar), the way people made a living and original crofting artefacts.
We produced stories, powerpoints, artwork and even our Christmas play with Crofters in mind.
During term 3 we have also completed a Rainforest topic which has covered Home Economics, Geography, Language & Maths.
