My 8 yr. old daughter says pupils in Fetlar are very lucky. You can get personal attention while she has to share her teacher with 28 other students! Beautiful island!

My grandfather, George Tulloch, grew up on Fetlar, and I suppose he went to your school in about 1883. He migrated from Fetlar to Australia about 1900 and never went back there. I live in Sydney now, and it was very interesting to take the virtual tour of the island on your website. I hope to visit Fetlar in person before too long. Hello. Thank you for your message. Tulloch is still a common name in the neighbouring island of Yell. The school opened on its present site in 1879 so its entirely possible that your grandfather was educated in our present classroom. You can check Shetland Ancestry through the Bayanne House website. It has some records going back to 1509 for Fetlar. |
